MEET THOSE WHO ARE AT THE FOREFRONT OF DEVELOPMENT

We sat down with Kjersti Kinderås, Cluster Leader for the forest and wood cluster WoodWorks! to hear her thoughts about Nordic green Business Forum. WoodWorks! is one of the partners in the Nordic Green Business Forum. WoodWorks! has over 70 members, mainly in central Norway, but has both projects and members throughout Norway.

The idea of Nordic Green Business Forum fits in well with WoodWorks! vision of helping to solve the climate crisis, create growth and ensure that the forest can absorb even more CO2 in the future. To do that, WoodWorks! focuses including cost-effective solutions that are fossil-free and that can store CO2 in the material. To contribute to a better climate, they work with the entire value chain. All the way from seed to forestry, forestry industry, wood protection industry and infrastructure. In addition to working closely with customers, suppliers and landowners, they also work with researchers to find new smart solutions.

Is there a demand from the market for climate-smart products?

What we are seeing now is that there is a demand for both products and solutions that can help solve the climate crisis. We see market trends that are about an increased demand for sustainable solutions. Wood as a raw material is a very good alternative in those cases. Wood provides climate-friendly products. At the same time the forest binds CO2 for the future.

It is in the contact between people that the new, climate-smart solutions emerge.

Why is this type of forum so important?

NGBF is a place where you can get inspiration. You can meet others and gather skills. When you work with solutions that are to contribute to and reduce climate impact, NGBF can be a good place to meet partners and gain new insights.

In what way does the Nordic perspective contribute to an even better business forum?

When working in a cluster, like us at WoodWorks! do, you are looking for exciting partners. We are looking for those who are at the forefront of development. To find the best you have to look wider than just a region or a country, you have to think internationally.

We believe that NGBF will be able to be the meeting place, where you meet those who are at the forefront of development and who can inspire you to take your work further.

What can you expect as a visitor, when you come to NGBF?

You will be able to participate in lectures that both inspire and give you insights into new solutions and markets. In addition, you will be able to meet interesting people who can contribute with new perspectives. See it as a breeding ground for innovation and development.

Is the Nordic Green Business Forum for everyone in the green industries?

Absolutely! Whether you are a sole proprietor, a large company, researcher or are interested in green industries, NGBF is for you. For example, we have invited students from universities who will contribute with different perspectives than you may be used to.

What do you personally look forward to hearing more about at NGBF?

It will be exciting to hear more about RISE and their subsidiary Processum and PFI. They are experts in biorefinery development & processes and products based on lignocellulose. They have a research environment for testing new ideas and products all the way from laboratory to demo scale. In addition, they have an innovation platform that spans both borders and industries, nationally and internationally. Among other things, they have an interesting project, Bioraff, which is a joint Swedish-Norwegian three-year project that is about further developing processes and products based on wood and industrial residual streams.

Is there anything visitors can start preparing now for the forum?

Part of the meeting is about expanding your network and if you want help finding the right contacts, you are welcome to contact us before and we will help you with that. You can also invite more colleagues or others who you think should join the Nordic Green Business Forum.

Where do you see NGBF in a few years?

It's going to be big! A meeting place for the whole of the Nordic region where we can discuss future solutions in the green industries. It is in the contact between people that the new, climate-smart solutions emerge.
